Java + Kotlin BUILD 2026.2.3

Code. Inspect. Debug. Stay inside one IDE.

Java, Kotlin, Spring, agents, and project navigation stay in the same IntelliJ IDEA window. 72% of Java developers work here.

01 / SPRING

See Spring the way your application sees it

IntelliJ IDEA reads your Spring beans and opens the failing line in a few clicks. The context stays visible while the app is running, not after you leave the editor.

Spring Boot Debug Inspections

AI Chat

02 / AI

Your agent works where your code already lives

Keep the agent beside the debugger and tests, in the same window. The walkthrough stays on the file the agent is editing, not in a separate chat product.

In use at more than 300,000 organizations

03 / WORKBENCH

Language, index, and agents in one window

Hand the agent a task

What the people on the desk actually said

Portrait of Yasuaki Kato

Yasuaki Kato

"We stay on IntelliJ IDEA because it is the most efficient desk for our backend work."
Portrait of Jay

Jay

Backend engineer at a company building software for self-service photo studios

"Git lets me stage partial commits, compare branches, and rebase in the IDE. Class diagrams help on large trees."

07 / FAQ

Short answers before you install

Yes for core Java and Kotlin work, including commercial projects. Since 2025.3 there is one installer. First install includes a 30-day Ultimate trial. After that you can keep the free core or subscribe.
Yes. Official support lists Windows 10 and Windows 11, plus macOS 15 and 26, and current Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, and Amazon Linux builds.
No. JetBrains Runtime 21 is bundled, so the IDE starts without a system JRE. You still need a standalone JDK to compile Java projects.
Real-time scanners inspect the cache, index, and class files the IDE writes constantly. Exclude the install folder, config, caches, project tree, and Gradle cache. Do not turn the scanner off.
Separate Community and Ultimate downloads ended in 2025.3. The free feature set remains inside the unified product after the trial ends.
